福建梁野山保护区同域三种雉类的时空生态位分化关系

Spatiotemporal niche differentiation among three sympatric pheasant species in Fujian Liangye Mountain Nature Reserve.

摘要: 物种共存是群落生态学和生物多样性保护研究的热点问题。为探究同域分布雉类的时空生态位分化模式及共存机制,在2022年9月—2023年10月利用红外相机技术对福建梁野山国家级自然保护区同域分布的白鹇(Lophura nycthemera)、灰胸竹鸡(Bambusicola thoracica)和白眉山鹧鸪(Arborophila gingica)3种雉类进行监测,并分别利用核密度估计方法、雅各布斯选择指数(JSI)和丰富度指数对日、月活动节律和日活动时间段选择及季节相对丰富度进行分析,同时还利用Pianka指数评估3种雉类的空间重叠情况。结果表明,3种雉类在时间生态位上均表现出较高的日活动重叠,但活动高峰不完全重叠;3种雉类的月活动强度均呈现双峰型,活动高峰出现时间基本一致;白眉山鹧鸪在暖季与其他物种间的时间分化更为明显。日活动时间段选择方面,3种雉类在暖季更偏好上午时段,冷季则倾向于选择日出与日落时段,以应对环境与干扰因素的变化。空间生态位方面,3种雉类种间整体上存在较强的空间回避作用,尤其在暖季,物种间空间重叠度最低。本研究表明,空间生态位分化可能是研究区内3种雉类实现共存的重要机制。研究结果为我国东南山丘陵地带雉类的保护与管理提供了科学依据。

Abstract: Species coexistence is a core topic in community ecology and biodiversity conservation research. To explore the temporal and spatial niche differentiation and the coexistence mechanisms among sympatric pheasant species, we conducted a camera trap survey from September 2022 to October 2023 in the Fujian Liangye Mountain National Nature Reserve. We focused on three sympatrically distributed pheasant species. Lophura nycthemera, Bambusicola thoracica and Arborophila gingica. We used kernel density estimation, Jacobs selectivity index (JSI), and relative abundance index to analyze daily and monthly activity rhythms, selection of activity periods, and seasonal relative abundance index, respectively. Pianka’s index was used to assess spatial overlap among the three species. The results showed a generally high degree of temporal overlap among the three species, while their activity peaks did not completely overlap. Their monthly activity patterns followed a bimodal trend with similar peak periods. A. gingica exhibited greater temporal differentiation from the other species during the warm season. All the three species preferred morning hours during the warm season and showed increased activity during sunrise and sunset in the cold season, likely in response to environmental conditions and human disturbance. Spatially, the three species showed notable avoidance of each other, with the lowest spatial overlap occurring during the warm season. These findings suggest that spatial niche differentiation may be an important mechanism driving the coexistence of the three pheasant species. The study provides important scientific support for the conservation and management of pheasants in southeastern China’s hilly regions.
