The utilization of energy in agroecosystems of south subtropical Tongan county in Fujian province was investigated and analysed. Three subecosystems were included: crop, orchard and forest, and livestock subsystem. The results showed that: (1) The total amount of solar radiation in these ecosystems was 4.396?10
16
J, of which,5.07?10
15
Jwas in cultivated land and 3.62?10
16
Jin hilly region. (2) The utilization efficiency of solar energy was 2.86% for sugarcane and under 1% for other crops. (3) In total energy investment to cropland, the organic energy input took part of 81%, which was averagely 4.49 times as much as inorganic energy invested. (4) The relationship between output/input ratio and organic energy/inorganic energy ratio was that of a quadratic parabola.

The
Amentotoxus argotaenia
forest is a relict phytocommunity of the Tertiary period. This paper was based on the investigation data of forest communities in Bamianshan mountain of Hunan province. It focusly discussed the eco-geographical distribution of the community, its physiognomic structural features and population characters, which could provide a scientific basis for the protection of this valuable forest resource.

With its fine qualities of timber and rapid growth,
populus
has drawn great attention from scholors and cultivators. It plays an important role in meeting the need of timber and afforestation in our country. On the basis of
populus
classification, this paper systematically discussed the geographical distribution, floral analysis and population origins of
populus
and the relations between its ecological charactors and afforestation, with the aim of providing theoretical help in the introduction, cultivation, breeding and management of
populus
.

Characters of wader community in the north coast of East China Sea were studied. There were 16 species belonging to 11 genera in
11
sampling plots. The number of species, total individuals, diversity index and homogeneity index all showed that the structure of wader community was a homogeneous and stable one.
Calidris alpine
and
Charadrius alexandrinus
were ths dominant species of the community. With PCA(Principal Component Analysis)ordination analysis of the community characters(density and frequency),it demonstrated that this method is able to simply reflect the relationship between wader populations in the area.

Observation data were obtained from Sep. to Dec.in 1983 and 1985 for 7-years old
Cunninghamia lanceolata

Michelia macclurei
mixed stands, which showed that:(1)the improvement of meteorological quality in the stand occured only in clear skys. (2) compared with their pure stands, the relative humidity in the mixed stand increased by 2% and 3% respectively. (3)the utilization ratio of light energy increased by 51% and 64% respectively.

In this paper, the relationships between natural light cycle and cycles of reproduction and molting of cage-raised fable were described. The correlation was analysed between testis development of male sable and natural light cycle. The seasonal variation of serum progesterone level in pregnancy sables was also determined. Artificial light was also used in the study. It was proved that ultraviolet light (280—320nm) has an important effect on the reproduction of sable. All the researches in this paper demonstrated that light, as an important ecological factor, affected the reproduction and molting of many kinds of animal.

Dynamic variations of micrographic fungi in the decomposition process of forest litters were studied under laboratory conditions.Significant differences in the composition of dominant fungi were found among treatments with different forest litters. In the treatment with broad-leaves, the dominant fungi was Syncephalastrum, and in that of pine-needles, the dominant ones were Trichoderm and Penicillum.

Relations of soil covering in potato fields with meteorological conditions wers studied for 3 ysars, from which, the proper time, indices and temporal distribution of soil covering for increasing temperature and preserving moisture and its relations with tuber growth of potato were all revealed. In proper time after the crisis of moisture demanding, uncovering may increase the diurnal temperature difference and diurnal mean temperature of the soil and thus increase the production of potato.

The anatomic structures of Tertiary coal-forming plant remains in Xiaolongtan Basin were studied systematically in this paper. Main species were identified. The association and distribution of plant communities and their relationship with coal-formation were discussed. The cause for the formation of coal quality strips was interpreted. It provided new material for the research of plant paleoecology and their coal-forming role.

Landscape ecology is a new branch of ecology. It's more and more widely applied in natural resource management and ecological planning. This paper described some aspects of landscape ecology:its origin and development, general characteristics and relations with other disciplines, theories and methodologies, applications, existing problems and perspective in China.

This paper deals with the ecological characters and biological effects of aquatic plants in the 3 River Systems at the upper streams of Dahuofang Reservoir. Among 60 aquatic plant species, hygrophyte and emerging plant are dominant and submerged plant is not developed. The influences of water pollution on the community structure of aquatic plants, the distribution of pollutants within plant bodies and their absorption and accumulation of heavy metal pollutants are discussed. The Cu and Zn contents in dry matter of aquatic plants are topped to 71.83mg/kg and 115.63mg/kg respectively, and those in the river sediment are far higher than in the plant body.

Gallnut is an important raw material in industry.
Kaburagia rhusicola
, winter host and summer host are the three necessities for its production, whereas the temperature and humidity of aphid's environment are the important factors directly affecting the quality and production of gallnut. Measures should be taken to guarantee the ecological conditions for gallnut production.
