Abstract: Climatic-ecological conditions for growing maize are compared for the central region ofJilin province with maize zones in America and Europe.The water-thermal conditions indevelopmental stages of maize and the climatic productive potentiality in central Jilin areanalysed in comparison with the western and eastern parts of the province.It is concludedthat the central part of Jilin province has the regional superiority for growing maize,whichshould be strengthened and developed.With optimization analysis of growing structures,the optimum ratio of maize is 40—60% of cultivated area,the weighted average value is 48.48%.
