Abstract: Bryophyte is widely accepted as one of the most susceptible indicators for monitoring air pollution due to its characteristics of sensitivity, accuracy, and directness. In recent years,it is widely applied to the research of heavy metal monitoring. This paper presented the principles, characteristics, affecting factors, and ecological and chemical approaches of bryophytesmonitoring heavy metal pollution system, and the history, current situation, and prospects of related researches, aimed to promote further studies.
