Abstract: There are 6 genera, 19 species and 2 varieties belonging to Fagaceae, making up about 1.5% of the total spermatophyta species in the study area, but the coverage of vegetations dominated by Fagaceae makes up of 60—70%. Vegetations dominated by Fagaceae can be classified into 10 types. Their regular distribution forms a vertical vegetation spectrum. In this area, there are 6 big reserviors, all surrounded with these vegetations. They play a significant role in conserving water and soil and prolonging the service life of reserviors. Besides, a lot of precious, rare and endangered plant species are growing among these vegetations. Therefore, Fagaceae occupies an important status in forest vegetations on the north slope of Dabie Mountain.
