Abstract: Meta-analysis,a statistical method to integrate the results of multiple independent studies under a same subject,has more merits than traditional reviews. It had experienced three developmental stages. It has been widely used in Education,Psychology and Medicine,but is new in Ecology. And it is a new concept to most Chinese scholars. The process of Meta-analysis was reviewed in the paper.

Key words: net ecosystem CO₂ exchange, gross primary productivity, ecosystem respiration, reed wetland, Yellow River Delta.
