Abstract: The storage and distribution of nitrogen in the Lithocarpus xylocarpus forest of Ailao mountain in the centre of Yunnan province was studied. The total nitrogen storage in the forest is 9.1t/ha, of which the nitrogen in the tree layer makes up of 17.58%, bush layer of 0.36%, herb of 0.05%, litters of 14.91% and 0-50cm soil layer of 67.10%.
