In this paper, the characteristics of wetland degradation in China were introduced from the aspects of functional area loss, material and energy imbalance, structure breakage, and ecological function impairment, and the causes of the degradation were summarized from natural and human’s aspects, respectively. Three evaluation systems for the wetland degradation were recommended, and related protection measures were put forward.[J]. cje.
