Abstract: Based on the concept of ecotourism and present status of natural reserves in China,thesuporiorities and basic principles for developi ng ecotourism in natural reserves were put forward. According to the principles, natural reserves in China were divided into six ecotourism types.They were:(1)forest ecotourism areas;(2)grassland ecotourism areas;(3)desert ecotourismareas;(4)terrestrial wetland and frcsh water ecotourism areas;(5)ocean and coastal ecotourismareas;(6)ecotourism areas of paleontological fcssil sites.
