Abstract: It is of significance to study the theories and quantification methods of environmental carrying capacity for the sustainable development of eco-tourism and the harmonization between tourism activities and environment. This paper introduced the definition and theoretical development of environmental carrying capacity of eco-tourism, and its main characteristics of objective and subjective, regional and temporal, and dynamic and adjustable, as well as its research progress. On the basis of these, the quantification methods of environmental carrying capacity of ecotourism at home were analyzed, and the related research perspectives were discussed.
