Abstract: The protection of waterfowl habitat is a hotspot of wetland ecosystem research. This paper introduced the background of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan, its principles and notions, international partnerships, cost-sharing principle, and achievements made from joint venture, and analyzed the existing problems in the protection of waterfowls and their habitats in China. Some suggestions were made on taking reference of the notions of NAWMP, and on strengthening the management of our wetland reserves in light of our present situations.
