Abstract: Sustainable utilization of water resources is the key issue of ecological construction and conservation in western China.Xizhuang watershed, located in Nujiang valley,is a typical mountain watershed.Although it is rich in potential water resource, water scarcity is still a problem for irrigation and domestic drink.Taking Xizhuang watershed for instance, the study applied by quantitative monitoring and participatory approach for assessing the spatial and temporal distribution of water resources and explored the sustainable use and conservation of water resources in mountainous watersheds.
