Abstract: Soil macrofauna in forest litters of five forest types were investigated from April to May of 1994. The quantity and community composition of soil macrofauna were reported and relationships between forest litters and soil macrofauna were analysed. The results showed that the quantity and species composition of soil macrofauna were closely related to the kind, thickness, amount and decomposition rate of forest litters, which were significant for strengthening the management and protection of forest resources, and advancing the better cycling of forest ecosystem.

Key words: Hibiscus hamabo, natural regeneration, seed germination, soluble sugar, starch, α-amylase.
