This study is conducted from March to December,1987,in agricultural area of west Shandong plain, where the feral striped hamster(
Cricetulus barabensis
) is one of the main rodents. Two parameters of adrenal gland and male testis weights are treated statistically, other biochemical parameters are comprehensively analysed in relation to the populationdensity, age and different seasons.Within the striped hamster population in west Shandongplain, there exists a behavior-endocrine self-regulation mechanism. The adrenal glandweight and plasma cortisol value can be used as indices for predicting the population states.

The energy accumulation, distribution, fixation, and transformation in four Dahurian larch plantation communities are determined by means of caloric measurement. The caloric valuevaries with plant species and organs. The standing amount of energy, energy fixation andits transformation efficiency vary with different community structures.Communities whichform multiple layers and reasonable space structures possess higher values of energy accumulation, fixation and transformation efficiency, with 3.478?10

Low-hilly red soil regions are important grain production areas in Zhejiang province.Theyhave abundant climatic resources and great productive potentials, but compared with highproductive areas in the province, the conversion ratio of input energy and the photo-utilization efficiency of grain crops are significantly lower. These regions are characterized byhigher crganic fertilizers input, which accounts for 70% of the total energy input for grainproduction.Balances between nutrient elements become more important in the grain production areas.

of all developmental stages have been Obsorved in winter in the suburb of Shanghai. The hibernating female mites are found in two colours:purple-brown and lightpurple. The number of light purple individuals increases with the drop of temperature.Thereare more individuals at quiescences stage than those at mobile stages in the coldestperiod.A few of eggs are laid by the 'summer' females at higher temperature.Their overwintering hosts are chiefly weeds and some vegetables.

Plot investigations indicate that the fruiting percentage of
Larix gmelinii
increases with theincrease of DBH.After a medium forest fire, seed producticn reduces in 1—2 years.By flower bud investigation in August,Seed production is predicted for the proceeding year, which is verified to be reliable and feasible. From the consideration of short shoot consumption in a major seed year, the fruiting periodicity of
Larix gmelinii
is estimated as3—4 years, which is also supported by the data of fruiting interval investigation for individual trees.Unfavorable events such as late frost or drought can delay the major seedyear, but favorable climate can not shorten the time interval between two major seed years.

A preliminary study has been made on Gentoo,Adelie and Chinstrap penguins at the Penda Ardley Island and the Cape Stigant of Antarctica from November to December,1982.Theexternal morphology of the three species is described, their breeding habits and populationsizes are also observed,Small populations of the three species with more than 1300 nests, which belong to 20 rookeries are found in a narrow area of northern sea side of the island.A big breeding population of Chinstrap including about 12000 nests is found on thetop of a hill near shore at the Cape Stigant.

This paper reports the effects of long-term exposure of low concentration SO
2
on the growthand yield of soybean (
Glycine max
).The potted plants are exposed in the chamber 7 hoursper day for 40 days.SO
2
concentrations are 0,100,150,200 and 25O ppb.The results showthat SO
2
reduces the content of pigments, leaf area and the dry weights of leaf, shoot androot. The effects of SO
2
on the growth and yield of soybean are intensifing with increasing exposure doses. The dry weight and yield of soybean are also reduced obviously by SO
2
even under the concentration with no visible injury to leaves.

Wind speed is measuied in and above sand-holding forest and above fixed dune at Zhanggutai in 1987 and 1988.The measuied wind speed profiles are employed to evaluate theaerodynamic characteristics and their relations with wind speed for sand-holdirf forest.Thezero plane displacement D,roughness length Z
0
and plant drag coefficient C
d
are estimatedas 7.71m,0.93m and 0.13m respectively for the sand-holding forest with an average height of 9.2m at moderate windiness. These characteristic values increase with increasing windspeed.Above canopy, turbulent parameter Ka increases and aero dynamic resistance ra decreases compared with those above fixed dune.

This paper systematically analyses the mechanisms of homeostasis and exogenous controlling of agroecosystem. The former includes integrity, diversity, substitution and niche homegeneity, and the latter refers to the equal-controlling mechanism. It is very importanto study these mechanisms for theoretical guidance of agroecological practices.

Some important items and controlling factors involved in the process of soil acidification are discussed in this paper.Soil acidification,as reflected by alkali neutralizing capacityand pH,may be affected by atmospheric acid deposition, which is companied by the accelerated leaching loss of base cations, lowering of pH and mobilization of aluminum to formhydroxyl aluminum suflate minerals. Two parameters △M/△H and △pH/△H may be used asvalid indices for evaluating the soil responses to atmospheric acid deposition.

For primate ecology research, the census method is put on emphases, because it is basic to he population dynamics study.Several census methods including Linear Density and Nonlinear Density methods are introduced. Food-enhanced primate group and marked-spottedanimal methods are superior for primate's social structure and behaviour ressarch. The problems how to estimate the season and rate of birth and now to calculate the dynamic lifetable for macaque are discussed,an example dealing with these problems is also presented in the paper.
