To estimate the leaching rate of NO

-
in the soil-plant system of Beijing-Tianjin-the Bohai Sea region caused by sewage irrigation, a simulated study with open lysimeter is carried out. The results show that when excess of NO

beyond the intake ability of soil-plant system is produced, it may be a potential pollutant to the ground-water, which must be paid much attention in practice.

With Korean pine broadleaf mixed forest on the northwestern slope of Chanfbai Mountain region as the object of study, the biomass and net productivity of its aerial and subterranean parts are estimated. The results show that as a regional climax community, Korean Pine broadleaf forest has a larger biomass and net productivity, and the succession community, poplar-birch forest, has a smaller biomass and a medium net productivity. These xesults provide basic data for the study of mass-and energy transformation and nutrient circulation in Korean pine and birch communities.

In our country, the quality of tea is reduced because of the high temperature and drought in Summer and the dislocation of ecological balance. The author suggests that in order enhance the tea quality, it is necessary to make afforestation, handle capital, construction of tea garden well, select suitable tea-growing ecological region, raise the proportion of spring tea and improve the quality of summer and autumn tea.

Seasonal isolation of
Sphaerotilus
from activated sludge has been made for three years. It is shown that the appearance of
Sphaerotilus
varies considerably with environmental conditions, especlally with temperature and water quality.
Sphaerotilus
can't be isolated from activated sludge at 30—36℃ but grows well at 20—28℃. 7 strains of
Sphaerotilus
are isolated from mixture of domestic sewage and industrial effluents and dye waste water.

Thick-billed reed warbler is a beneficial bird for agriculture and forestry. According to the field observation on the northern slope of Changbai Mountain in 1979—1981, the breeding habits of this bird were studied with respect to the selection and distribution of nest area, nest building, incubation, brood feeding and eating patterns.

It is proved that the systematization of knowledge of agro-ecology and agro-economics is a concretization of the universal principles of materialist dialectics in the agro-ecolomics.

This paper discussed the role of photosynthetic bacteria in ecosystem. Photosynthetic bacteria can utilize solar energy to assimilate carbon dioxide and fix nitrogen. The uracil and proline produced by it can increase the yields of rice and other crops. The detox-cation of it can also improve the growth conditions of crops. Utilization of photosynthetic bacteria for purifying various kinds of wastes is beneficial to the public health, and its by-products can be used as fodder.
