Abstract: The dynamics of β-glucan content of two barley varieties during kernel development phase and the effect of some meteorological factors on (β-glucan content were studied. The results showed that β-glucan content in kernel is both dominated by genotype and influenced by meteorological factors. The model of dynamic during kernel development phase is very similar in both barley varieties, but differs in years greatly. It is showed that the dynamic of β-glucan content during kernel development phase is completely consistent with those of kernel-weight increase and protein accumulation per grain. The dynamic of β-glucan content in barley kernel is significantly influenced by meteorological factors, and there is significantly negative relationship between accumulated temperature during kernel development phase and β-glucan content in kernel.
