Abstract: Recently-documented increases in atmospheric N2O concentrations have stimulated substantialinterests for measuring the rate of N2O flux from terrestrial sources to the atmosphere.Microbial nitrification-denitrification process appears to be the major source of global N2Oflux.In this experiment,an apparatus is used for measuring N2O evolved by soil in Situ,based on the inhibition of the reaction N2O→N2 by acetylene.The experimental results obtained under field conditions are presented,showing the appratus to be highly sensitive,reproducible and suitable for use in fields.
